Thousands of years ago, humans and elves shared one land. But men grew jealous of the elves' magic and immortality. They wanted power and everlasting life for themselves. War broke out. Both sides suffered heavy losses. Desperate to stop the bloodshed, leaders from both races created the Covenant—a magical agreement to separate the two realms. The most powerful among the elves used their gifts to draw a boundary down the continent. In the elven realm, magic thrives. Where humans dwell, magic is a dwindling memory. And neither race can cross the barrier without pain and, eventually, death. But some things are worth hurting for. Sometimes, not even death is a deterrent.
